Even within a society where women are oppressed, women are infinitely more potent biologically.

Writing is (…) a kind of sooth-saying, a truth-telling. It is a naming of the world, a reverse incarnation : the flesh becoming word. It’s also a witnessing. Come with me, the writer is saying to the reader. There is a story I have to tell you, there is something you need to know. The writer is both an eye [EYE]-witness and an I [personal pronoun]-witness, the one to whom personal experience happens, and the one who makes experience personal for others. The writer bears witness.Bearing witness is not the same as self-expression
-Margaret Atwood, Second Words

Atwood's view on how people see Handmaid's Tale as Feminist

Atwood shows how people falsely views the novel as being "ideological tract in which all women are angels and/or so victimized they are incapable of moral choice, no"(Atwood xvi). Atwood instead uses a more vicious attitude to prove how she portrays women. "If you mean a novel in which women are human beings-with all the variety of character and behaviour that implies- and are also interesting and important, and what happens to them is crucial to the theme, structure and plot of the book, then yes. In that sense many books are "feminist""(Atwood xvi). By using a double standards and disproving what people say and view feminism as being weak and "incapable" shows how that instead of people targeting feminism shes targeting how people falsely see feminist.

" For Atwood, aliens are SF, not speculation. Atwood contrasted her meaning with Ursula Le Guin’s belief that SF represented what could really happen. To Atwood’s point"
" Yet, the exploration of SF as a problem remains with me the most enduring, just as we read SF as a confrontation of the world and all the unanswered and unanswerable questions that come with human existence. So this volume is both a consideration of SF as confrontation and our collective confrontation of the genre itself. "

Atwood, M. (2011). In other worlds: SF and the human imagination.
