Being as the song is very fast paced, the editing between shots will also have to be very sporadic and fast paced.

A good idea for this song would be lots of close-ups. Not even close-ups of faces, just really zoomed shots where you cannot even see the entire image. This would be good to add a very claustrophobic feel to the video.

Props Ideas

For the narrative, the main character would best suit the colour black. Black hair and black clothes if possible.

multiple parts of the song could have props relevent to the lyrics. Such as clocks and pills for certain parts of the chorus.

Editing Ideas

The editing between different shots will have to be rather fast paced as this suits the speed of the song.

After all shots are sorted and everything is in order, adding colour effects to multiple parts of the song would really help with its colour theme. Adding effects to shots to make the colours very dark or washed out would greatly aid the ark feel of the video. Shaking to multiple shots, as if the camera was in an earthquake would also be a good addition.

Possible Issues

Room and lighting: Finding a room which is suitable for our video could be an issue (Either a bedroom or a large, dark and empty room) and if we get a dark room then lighting could be an issue. Lamps would have to be brought.

Money for props: At the minute we have some very good ideas for props, maybe too many good ideas. If money starts to become an issue, the amount of props we have access to with dwindle.

Narrative Ideas

The narrative will feature a single character is going depressed/insane because if their lack of sleep. These parts of the video which are narrative will occasionally be interrupted by shots of the band playing the song, but very occasionally.

This may seem like a very simple idea, but the amount imagery that can be shown to represent someone losing their mind is incredible.

The song that we are making a music video for is the song 'I'll Sleep When I'm Dead' by the alternative rock band 'Set It Off'

I'll Sleep When I'm Dead would be described by some as a very 'Emo' or 'Grunge' song as it has a very depressing sound and theme to it.

The song itself is about a person who is an insomniac, and is going depressed and insane because of the lack of sleep they can get.

Seeing as this song has a very emo theme to it, a suitable setting would be a dark room. Perhaps with posters of distorted images on the walls. An empty dark room with a single light.
