There are also a number of programs that operate in various locations within my board that are affiliated with an outside agency (E.g. John Howard or Chimo). Full information on these programs was not available to me by the deadline for the assignment, however, these programs are utilized only once regular classroom and school-based programs are exhausted. The programs (3 in total) are run as a mix of respite and day programming with a focus on returning the student to their home school. There is an additional program for youth who have been incarcerated that acts as a transition between detention centre and mainstream school.

The school board works with the student, parents, classroom teachers and Principals to try to keep exceptional students within the regular classroom, however also recognizes that the mainstream classroom is not the most appropriate place for all students at all times. For students who require a special program (with integration where possible) there are several program placements available. However, within the child's home school there are numerous interventions and resources available to the student and classroom teacher - they are outlined in the connected text boxes in this paddle.

Accentuating my Board's commitment to Inclusive Education for students is the following graphic outlining the board Pyramid Response to Intervention (RTI) framework. Students eligible for Behavioural programming fall within the red zone (specialized programming) and represents only 5% of the overall student population in the board. The 5% demographic includes behavioural programming as well as specialized academic program placements.
