This quote indicates that their brain isn't fully ready to shut down. Second, when students aren't ready for bed it is usually because they have been caught up with something maybe from home or school. Third, it can also be that something is distracting them maybe screen time or something they had said that they wish that they didn't it can be various stuff that can affect a teens sleep.

The author states that " Recent studies have shown that many teens have trouble going to sleep so early...their brains naturally work on later schedules and aren't ready for bed." This quote conveys that teens internal clocks running inside their brain usually run a bit behind compared to younger children and adults. In addition, some teens as well as go to school, do extracurriculars such as sports, so they usually are staying after school for later times which would push their evening schedule further back than their typical routine. On a finale note, teens spending more than half the day at schools leaves little to no time for chores or other things to do at home so when they get home their plates are normally full with all sorts of the things to do but they have not even close to as much time as they have in school which leads to their internal clock running behind just as it would with sports or any other activites.

This quote demonstrates that teens have trouble sleeping because of things they are thinking about like what they need to do and how they need to do it. Secondly, they do so much throughout the day that their brain is still thinking and isn't ready to shut off. Last, they are probably too busy on their cellular device and don't go to sleep at a responsible and reasonable time.
