Her compulsions to act on these ever-flowing ideas hint at its importance to the plot. This passage also shows when Lauren first shows interest in sharing Earthseed with others. The passage was personally captivating because it heavily informs the reader who Lauren is as a developing character. 
I also chose this passage because of the impact of language used. Lauren's word choice and poignancy regarding her connection to Earthseed has an important, memorable impact in the story.
