Finish the Business Start Up Vocabulary Activity if you have not. You don't need to resend to me. We will use it next time. BUT, you must follow directions carefully. In the last column you are giving me a summary of your related website AND what you learned from it. I will grade this and expect it to be worth around 85 points.
2. Review the Small Business Criteria handout on OnCourse. It's a list of what you have and don't have at your disposal to start a small business. Use it to refine your idea. Write your name and business idea on an index card (follow the criteria) and turn it into the box. This is also a grade.
3. Use your idea from the card to complete The 10 Mistakes to Avoid activity on OnCourse. Email it to me by the end of the hour. It's DUE at the end of the hour! No exceptions. Read the articles and put your answers in the boxes provided. Save your work in My Documents, Email it. DO NOT SHARE IT!

Open the direction on Oncourse for Kuder Navigator instructions and Navigator quick guide. Follow them to log in. You should have an account already. You should do as much of the first two sections (Learn About Myself and Career Exploration) as you can. SAVE ALL YOUR ASSESSMENT RESULTS.

I graded and returned the OnCourse quiz we took on Business Differentiation. Look at it to understand your mistakes. We may retake that one after break for a real grade. That was a self assessment so if you tried, you got the full 40 points. If you didn't take it yet, go ahead and do it. If you copy and pasted, your grade on this will be a 1.
There are some money based board games in the front cabinet. You may check one out from Ms. Daix and play it with up to three other students. NO Groups bigger than 4 allowed. To get some bonus points, review the game and email me your review. Tell me what you played.. who you played with, the object of the game. how it's played, what it is trying to teach you, if you liked it or not and why, and if you would recommend it to other students and why. Check the game back in to Ms. Daix. If ANY pieces are missing, you (everyone in the group) will be charged for the game (some are pretty expensive) and you will not get any points for your review.

Unfortunately, my doctors have not released me to return to work due to injuries from the car accident last month. The good news is that I will be monitoring you remotely and you can continue to work toward your credential. Here is what you will do. Please read ALL instructions before you begin.
1. Log into G'Metrix and take a Timed Practice Test. You have until Jan 17th to complete each of the TIMED Word Practice tests in G'Metrix with a score of 800 or higher. This means everyone, even if you have already gotten qualifying scores on these tests, we need current ones. I don't care what order you do them in. Print your results, you may ask the sub to make sure yours printed
2. Review your Results before you exit out of the test and fill out a Timed Test Journal on OnCourse. Save in MyDocuments using the regular class format. You will be submitting this journal next week for a grade. Instructions are on the document.
3.

Today we are learning about a concept called "grit". I don't have a lot of work for you because this is one of the most important concepts in this class. They WILL test you on this on the exam! So, you need to spend lots of time on what I have for you, make sure you really understand the idea and can apply it to yourself and your work habits.
1. Go to OnCourse and watch the Angela Duckworth TED talk. You will have to turn on the subtitles to watch it in the classroom. They are in the lower right hand corner.
2. Read the article from Forbes.
3. Open the worksheet and answer the questions completely and thoughtfully. This is where you need to spend some good time thinking. The three characteristics of an entrepreneur should still be written on the back board. If not, you should have them memorized by now anyway!
4. Email me if you have questions
5. I'm about to release your Self-assessment vocab tests back to you, so with any extra time, review your quiz and make sure you understand your mistakes. You will see this quiz again. THIRD BLOCK- John is the only one who took the vocab test. WHY??? You better take it today if you want some points.
6. Make sure you use the correct subject line for your emails to me. If you want me to grade it, don't leave it blank, don't put your name. Put the name of the assignment
