An unknown man brought them a letter that said the school was run by an NGO and "was a center of vulgarity and obscenity and take girls to different resorts for picnics" This is related to a current event because the Taliban still imposes restrictions on women working with NGOs in Afghanistan. In December 2022, the Taliban banned women from doing so and this has jeopardized operations and aid.

This day Malala turned fifteen but it wasn't all good news because the Taliban had killed the owner of the Swat Continental Hotel, who was in a peace committee, "The Taliban is not an organized force like we imagine". This may be related to a current theme because the Taliban still kills people who speak against them, for example Reza Shahir who was a journalist that was killed in 2022 because he spoke out against the Taliban.

In this day Malala's father received a call from a Geo TV correspondent called Mehboob Ali, the nephew of Zahid Khan, a really close friend of Malala's father. When he heard the news he said "it was as if I had been shot" and knew he was next in the Taliban's list. This is related to a current event because the Taliban is still threatening not ony people but also the USA after thy withdrew their troops from Afghanistan. There is concern on terrorist threats.

In this day, after Malala rode home on a bus after an exam, two Talibans came inside the bus and asked "Who is Malala?" and was later shot 3 times in the head because she spoke out on girls education and the Taliban but still survived. This may be related to a current event because in Afghanistan, there is still a ban on girls education and is the only country in the world with these restrictions. The U.N says more than 1 million girls are affected by the ban. Education for girls is prohibited because the Taliban says "it doesn't comply with their interpretation of Islamic law" and for the past 2 years girls can't attend high school.
