“The biggest thing about being an older black man with Asperger’s is that three thing don’t go together in most people’s minds.... I couldn't;t have autism, first, because I’m successful and can hold a job”. 

This passage demonstrates the struggles that  the author faces when people do not understand that he can have Asperger’s because he does not fit the conventional stereotype that others have created. This section demonstrates the interest ion of race, gender, and disability as people cannot imagine that he has Asperger’s because mainstream society does not have books or television segments on people with Autism that resemble him. Additionally, the author expresses the back lash that he gets from his friends or acquaintances when he says he has Asperger’s, they completely negate his statements. Lastly, his friends and others cannot fully comprehend that he has his because the author does not fit the stereotype of not holding a job and completing many neurotypical actions.
