My dad was born in the 1970's but remembered most of his technology from the 1908's and on. He remembers the cassette tapes used in like in Walkman's. They were used for recording and listening to audio and videos. He remembers having to rewind them by hand which was a pain.

In school they did use these in class. They would have transparent slides that allowed the students to see what the teacher had written. The projectors would not be the best and it was sometimes hard to make out what was written on the slides. You also had a hard time seeing when the teacher would write on the at the same time the class was being shown.

Film was used in cameras for pictures and or videos. The disposable cameras were great for use and easy to carry around. The cameras were not the best; you would have to wined them up and make sure the camera was ready to take the picture. You also had to wait to see the pictures and get the film developed.

My sister was born around the 2000's. She had access to much better technology than my dad had. She had access to computers at school which were held in a computer lab class. They would teach them how to use it and allowed them to use it for schoolwork. Hardest part was the typing skills, and they were tested on how fast the students could correctly type without mistakes.

One of the "new" types of technologies that was introduced into her classrooms were smart boards. Where they had to learn how to use them. You would see the teacher trying to write on them and then it not working so they had to recalibrate them. It was a fascinating tool that we all enjoyed learning from.
