However, the cricket escaped at the beginning of the meeting, and Mulan tried to put it back in its cage. The meeting was a disaster and Mulan did not get matched and felt like she had brought shame to her family. She felt like she had let her family down by not being matched to a man. Guilt and shame take over her, all she wanted was to be enough for her family and make them happy.

Mulan did not want her father to die, so in the middle of the night when her whole family was sleeping, she was getting ready to join the army replacing her father. She cut her hair to look more like a man because women were not allowed to fight. If she was caught she would bring dishonor to her family and execute. Soon after they were on safety, her general became conscious again and praises Mulan for her bravery and her wits. She was left on the mountain by herself and was about to go home and face her father. She had accomplished what she was set out to do, saving her father from the war. The rest of the Han came out of the dragon costume kidnapped the Emperor, and locked him in his castle. Shang and his soldiers tried to break the main door open, but Mulan knew that it would be too late if they did it that way. Three of her closest comrades followed her lead. They dressed as women and began to climb the outer pillars to get inside the castle. They were able to distract the Han guides and then they fought and won against them.
