As viewers are aware, Miriam "Midge" Maisel's journey from devout wife and mother to stand-up sensation has taken her all over New York City, from the iconic Apollo Theatre to a famous jazz club in Greenwich Village. The popular Amazon Original series "The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel" has returned for its fifth and final season.

Many classic sequences from The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel were shot at actual locales in and around New York City, paying homage to the city's rich history and distinctive culture. This is something that fans might not be aware of, though. I had the chance to go to 14 of them in Manhattan to observe how they actually appeared. Here is what I discovered.

A actual butcher shop in Nolita serves as the backdrop for the action. Albanese Meats is its official name funny newborn baby onesie and it has been in operation from that year. When I went in to check things out, the woman behind the counter informed me that only a small number of modifications were needed to have the store ready for filming. In actuality, the only modification was the greening of one of the walls.

Memorabilia from the store's lengthy history in the area, including the well-known picture of Midge standing in the entrance, are on show in the shop's window.

Midge learns that her husband, Joel Maisel, has been having an affair with his secretary, Penny Pann, in Season One's second episode. Her initial response is to leave the house and go directly to The Gaslight Cafe, a dive bar where Joel had previously tried his hand at stand-up comedy. Midge's career as a comedian starts when the club manager notices her insane-yet-fantastic act.

Midge’s colorful language during her debut at the Gaslight Cafe lands her a night in jail, where she meets fellow comedian Lenny Bruce. She and Lenny make a habit of bailing each other out of jail, and each time, Midge ends up at a restaurant called The City Spoon. The small diner holds sentimental value as the spot where she and Joel ate after their wedding. Midge visits this spot again in Season Five.

The restaurant featured in these scenes is actually called La Bonbonniere, and it’s located in West Village. The old-school diner offers a variety of breakfast foods and burgers.
