July 5th- I have always admired Benjamin Franklin as one of our founding fathers and as a scientist and inventor, among other things, so I really enjoyed reading Ben Franklin's Big Splash by Barb Rosenstock. This tells the story of his first invention when he was still just a boy and gives insight into the man he would become. This is truly an interesting story.

July 6th-Well, it's been so hot, I thought I'd read about something chilly. Today I read First Snow by Peter McCarty. This adorable book written for young children tells the story of Pedro who is visiting his family and experiencing snow for the very first time. This is something I can totally relate to, because I didn't see snow myself until I was 10 years old. This book is delightful!

July 7th- The Adventures of Beekle The Unimaginary Friend by Dan Santat is just precious. It's the story of an imaginary friend who sets off in search of a child to be his very special chosen friend. This book is so sweet and a great family read aloud, especially for younger children, preschool to first grade.

July 8th- I can't wait to share the book, My Pen by Christopher Myers, with Ms. Tucker, our art teacher. She will LOVE it! The book is about all the things a kid with an imagination and a pen can do! I can see this book being a great lesson opener, and maybe, I'll see what I can create with my very own pen.

July 9th- If you know someone who gets in trouble for being too loud, then you should share Too Loud Lilly by Sofie Laguna with them. It's the story of Lilly Hippo, who has trouble finding her quiet voice, until she finally realizes that there is a time and place for all her loudness and it's even celebrated.

July 10th- I just finished reading the picture book, Chu's Day at the Beach by Neil Gaiman & Adam Rex. It is so creative and funny! Can you imagine how a panda bear & a sneeze could break the ocean? I couldn't either until I read Chu's Day at the Beach. I know my kindergartners will enjoy this book next year when I share it with them. It's sure to become a CSES favorite!
