The land had good farming possiblities and the land was fertile.&nbsp; He established a settlement at the junction of the Yarra River and Kooyongkoot Creek in December 1836.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br>Toorak was named after Toorak House, an Italian residence built by James Jackson, in 1849. The name of the house is thought to have originated from Woiwurrung language with words of similar pronunciation meaning black cow or remedy swamp.<br><br>The name Kooyong, a suburb in Boorondara is thought to derive from an aboriginal word meaning&nbsp; camp or resting place or haunt of the wild fowl.<br><br>Orrong Road is another road whose name derives from an Aboriginal language.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Gardiners Creek takes its name from John Gardiner, the first settler in the city of Boorondara in 1837.<br>Glenferrie Road is named after Peter Ferrie, an early settler in the 1840's.&nbsp;<br>Other names include; Bellevue St, Solway Rd, Riversdale Rd, Lynden Rd, Coththam St, Gardiners creek, , Mailing St and Maranoa Rd.</div>]]></description>
