Did you know that “many adult moths don’t eat,” and some “moths do not have a mouth.” It’s ironic to think that they don’t eat and yet they are eaten. Here are some other moth facts: they don’t come out in the morning because of predators, they are attracted to light, they like to eat clothes and they are no good as pets. James Rallison said: “Actually, I think there is a giant moth in the Godzilla universe. Mothra. This is how much we don’t like moths; we turn them into city-destroying monsters.” Most people don’t like moths, in fact, most kids don’t like most flying creatures in general. We think they are gross. So you would think that we would be happy to read that the moth was eaten by a bird. Wrong! That’s just sad. It’s terrible to think that some living things are born in this world just so other living creatures can survive. But as they say, this is part of the circle of life. One is born, one grows old and then older and then dies. Sad but this is a fact of life. On the bright side, it’s nice to know that someone or something will still benefit from another’s death. That there is a new life somehow created from the other one that passes. If there was a lesson to be learned from this, it would be that since life is a circle, we should spend each day thankful and happy. But a miracle happened when Harry's house ,Gryffindor got extra last minute points from Ron's amazing wizard chess skills, Hermione being the smartest (and the only one listening) at class , and Harry Potter stopping  Professor Quirrel and  Voldemort from getting the the sorcerer's stone. After that they were tied with Slytherin until Neville got 10 more points for having great courage when standing up to Harry, Ron, and Hermione so they could not lose any more points after losing 150 points. Our artwork was inspired from the book, "Herbie Jones - Is the Third Grade ready for Herbie?" by Suzy Kline.  Herbie is sick of being the lowest Reading Group which they called "Apple."  Miss Pinkham told the class that there will be a spelling bonus for them.  This comes as an opportunity for Herbie to leave the "Apple Group."  He started writing down the words -- pound, sound, bound, found, round, mound -- on a piece of paper.  He even started practicing to write his name, address and zip code.  He carried his spelling list wherever he went. He was surprised when Miss Pinkham sent a postcard that "You are the ONLY student to get a hundred percent on your spelling bonus."

This was the sword that Harry Potter used to kill a basilisk, a serpent that could kill any living thing with its glance or its breath. The basilisk was usually represented as a creature with a dragon's body and wings, and a serpent's head. In Book 2: Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, only a true Gryffindor could pull the sword out of the Sorting Hat, a magical hat at Hogwarts that determines which of the four school Houses each new student best belongs. These four Houses are Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. The Sorting Hat originally belonged to Godric Gryffindor, one of the four founders of Hogwarts. Harry pulled the sword out of the hat while in the Chamber of Secrets, when he had no hope to kill the basilisk. Fawkes, a phoenix belonging to the headmaster of Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore, flew into the Chamber of Secrets and dropped the Sorting Hat next to Harry. He then pulled the sword out of the hat and stabbed the basilisk with it. 

For this project, I made a 3D version of the Sword of Gryffindor and animated it using a program called Blender. I used version 2.90.1 to make it and used the Eevee Render Engine to render it.

The book began with a narrator, the Once-ler, telling a boy about the story of the Lorax and how one man’s greed pushed him to cut down all the trees in his hometown so that he could make more Thneeds to sell. After all the trees were gone, the man was left alone. He lost his business and his once beautiful home had been destroyed by his own actions. At the end of the story, the Once-ler gave the boy the last remaining Truffula seed, asking him to plant it and take care of it. He also left the boy this message, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” This message reminded me that it takes just one person to make a difference. Even if I’m young, I can do my part to take care of my environment. Simple things like conserving water and electricity, using bicycles instead of cars, practicing reduce, reuse and recycle at home, and planting more trees and growing our own vegetables can make a big difference if everyone starts doing it. Because of this, I was inspired to write a poem about Mother Nature and how we can all contribute to a cleaner, greener and better world.
