"So the changes that happen between 18 and 25 are a continuation of the process that starts around puberty, and 18 year olds are about halfway through that process. Their prefrontal cortex is not yet fully developed. That's the part of the brain that helps you to inhibit impulses and to plan and organize your behavior to reach a goal." (Aamodt)

"So, for instance, a 20 year old is 50 percent more likely to do something risky if two friends are watching than if he's alone." (Aamodt)

I thought that she made a point by saying that the brain isn't fully developed yet at 18. She stated that the brain fully developes at the age of 25. If our brains arn't developed yet we shouldn't be called an adult because we are still not deveoped to make mature adult decsions.

In the book, "Dear Martin" Justyce, an 18 year old boy is put in court to tetsify for his best friend that was shot. He was asked many questions that many adults would have struggled to anwser esspeicly after what happened. If his brain isnt fully developed at that age he shouldnt have been put in the situation where the defense attorny bullied him and asked him such difficult questions.

I think that that this article was very informational and did a very good job of explaining what you can and cannot do. At 18 you cannot drink but you may be drafted into a war and be tried as an adult in court. If a 18 year old can be drafted and tried as an adult why can't they drink, its because they are not fully devolped yet. I don't think its fair that they have consequences as an adult when they really are not an adult yet.

This doesn't relate to any of the books we have read this year. This article is done very well but its just straight facts.

In feel that this article did a perfect job of using other people's opinions to create a good sense of why an 18 year old should or shouldn't be counted as an adult. A Lot of statements showed how it wasn't right for them to have adult problems but not a much privileges like you would have after 25.

This article "When Are You Really An Adult"can relate to "Dear Martin". Justyce, an 18 year old boy is put in court to testify for his best friend that was shot. He was asked many questions that many adults would have struggled to answer especially after what happened. If his brain isn't fully developed at that age he shouldn't have been put in the situation where the defense attorney bullied him and asked him such difficult questions. This is supported by the article because the article states that these 18 year olds are only getting the bad part of being an adult when in reality they should even be treated as an adult at this age.
