         <description><![CDATA[<p>The Fram explored the Artic and Antartic Regions during 1893-1912 The Fram was built by Collin Archer for &nbsp;Fridtjof Nansen.&nbsp;</p><p>The Fram is said to have sailed farther North and farther South than any other wooden ship. &nbsp;Nansen's idea was to build a ship&nbsp;</p><p>that could survive the pressure of the water not by pure strength, but because it would be of a shape designed to let the ice push</p><p> the ship up, so it would "float" on top of the ice. </p>]]></description>

Echo sounding was used for navigational purposes or charting purposes. Echo sounding is used for all kinds of measurements even ones without sound. </p>]]></description>
