First Amendment Freedom:
Peaceful Protest
Brief Summary: Segregation protestors were peacefully protesting in a city and drawing a large crowd, so the police told them to leave or be arrested. They didn't leave and the police arrested them, even though there wasn't any violence. Their 1st amendment rights were voilated, because there wasn't any violence in the protest and our first amendment says that we have a right to PEACEFULLY protest.

Speech
Two children wore armbands in protest of the Vietnam War to school and got suspended. They later went to court because the believed that the armbands were protected by freedom of speech and that they shouln't have been suspended. The court decided that they had the right to wear the armbands and that the school did not have the right to suspend them.
We personally think that freedom of speech should be protected in schools and that the school should not have the right to silence any student for their opinions as long as they are being peaceful.
