In the poem "Metaphors," the author use literary devices to get her message across. The theme of the poem is that pregnancy comes with unfavorable qualities. The author states, "This loaf's big with its yeasty rising." This quote shows that the author uses a metaphor to compare yeast rising and her being pregnant. This also shows how being pregnant comes with her gaining a lot of weight and many unfavorable qualities.

The main theme of the poem "Metaphors" is the the process of pregnancy is long and makes her feel fat but the end result is great. You can tell she feels she is fat because of her use of words such as elephant, "fat purse," and "ponderous house." In this story she also uses a lot of symbolism and imagery like "A melon strolling on two tendrils," this shows she feels like something huge walking on to small legs. She also uses format by using the number nine several times which shows that it is long and there is nine months in pregnancy.

In the poem, Sylvia Path uses many literary devices to describe her pregnancy. In the poem, she says "A melon strolling on two tendrils." Sylvia means she feels like a big fat fruit being supported by two legs. However, she uses this to show imagery to the readers on how she feels while she is pregnant. In the poem, the theme conveyed is pregnancy makes you feel big and fat. While it is a happy ending the road to the ending is very difficult. Finally, Sylvia uses the format a format of nine syllables and nine syllables to support the nine months it takes to have a baby during pregnancy.

In the poem "Metaphors", Sylvia Path uses many literary devices to show the process of pregnancy. The theme of this poem is the process of pregnancy makes you feel big or large. Sylvia Path uses metaphors, connotations, form etc. Each line has 9 syllables, there are 9 lines and 9 months in a pregnancy. "A melon strolling on two tendrils" represents how she feels fat or large in size. "I'm a riddle in nine syllables" this connotation shows nine, representing nine months and how she feels "puzzled" about being pregnant.

The theme of the poem is that pregnancy makes you fat. I know this because she is describing how she is fat using poetic devices. She uses poetic devices to emphasize the major theme by describing how she is fat. She uses connotation to say that she is a "fat purse". She doesn't really mean she is a fat purse but she is saying that she is fat because of pregnancy.

She does use a lot of metaphors to describe how she feels about being pregnant. She relates herself to "a melon strolling" which means she feels fat when walking. She describes herself to many large things such as "cow", "melon", and "fat". Each line has sine syllables, there are nine lines, and there are nine letters in the title. She does this because it stands for being pregnant for nine months.

The theme of the poem "Metaphors" By: Sylvia Plath is basically about how during her pregnancy. She feels fat and like she was excited at first now she just wants to get it over with. She uses a variety of devices that deals with her size. She uses devices like personification and metaphors to describe her outlook on how she feels about herself. So basically in all throughout the poem she talks about her being fat and kind of like insecure about herself.

She use things like "a elephant in a ponderous house." Which shows how pregnancy changes a woman and makes them feel big. She also uses the number 9 in every way she can because that"s the number of months it takes for a woman to give birth. But she mostly tells about how insecure pregnancy is for women.
