A Quote

To be an educator is to instill knowledge to the young minds, to let them venture on the world for them to ask and be curious. For their young minds to discover more than what there is to anticipate, that learning is endless because there are so much more to our planet than just a vast land and water. Knowing where to look is the way for a better understanding and a bright life to live.

The quote to me, means that to teach is to also be ready to be taught by your students and learn alongside each other. That you know you taught well not just by the response of your students to the questions you ask but also to the questions they will be asking you that could caught you off guard and in that moment you both are curious as to what is the answer. Those moments I cannot wait to experience, I want the learners to surprise me with their own way of finding out about the place we live in and probably learn a thing or two from them too as I share my own to them.

The Concepts that Struck Me Most

This semester has offered a lot of concepts to being a teacher in which some I already heard of and there were also new concepts I got introduced to. However, only the following struck me the most,
these are concepts under the Teacher as a Professional; there are the Professionalization of Teaching, the Teacher Welfare and Privileges and the Teachers' Rights, Duties and Responsibilities. And I am going to tell as to why these three are my top picks.

•The Professionalization of Teaching: Republic Act No. 7836 or The Philippine Teachers' Professionalization Act of 1994

It truly takes a lot of dedication to teach and to make it a life's mission. Surrounded by educators, I knew it is never easy becoming one and this discussion opened my eyes to all the information I needed to actually put a grip on the idea that educators did not get their titles in just a snap of the fingers. There is a process to follow to be a licensed teacher and I think it is wonderful and fulfilling to finally have your name listed on with other aspiring teachers.

•Teacher Welfare and Privileges:
Republic Act No. 4670 The Magna Carta for Public School Teachers

I always have great respect and appreciation towards educators, I seriously think they deserve to be protected and treated the best with the sacrifices they do for the learners and the community. With this law, our educators can make their duty effectively with less worry as their rights are recognized. They are the people behind every successful professions out there and it is just for them to be treated with all greatness.

•Teachers' Rights, Duties and Responsibilities:
Batas Pambansa Blg. 232 The Education Act of 1982

As there are laws on protecting the teachers, there is also a law for what a teacher should do. The title as an educator entails with loads of responsibilities, this is a guide to properly fulfill what are expected as a teacher, there is also the Code of Ethics that I think is equally important as well. This law does not only focus on educators but the education in the Philippines as a whole, that means it covers the learners, communities and other figures.

All the information I have accumulated within this semester made me tighten my grasp on my goal to be an educator. The way might not be all paved with the bright sun and rainbows, I know that the gray clouds and rains can help me withstand all the raging storms that will come.

One semester spent with new knowledge that I keep dear with me at all times. There were moments of doubts and questions above my head yet those did not linger long for I have beautiful people who have helped me through it all. The first few months of my second year was a blast because I have such nice people around.

To all my professors, to say that I am beyond grateful is an understatement for I cannot seem to find the right words to relay how thankful I am for the additional knowledge they have shared. The well spent time and the passion they have are just magnificent that it drives my own to spark more. This university of crimson and gold never fails to mesmerize me with each professor I had. To my block mates, the reaching out of hand you all have given and offered me are what made this semester less stressful. I always appreciate the little things you all did, for simply answering my questions and giving light to my confused mind. Being there for each other had became our thing and I think it is so surreal still, I would not exchange this block for anything.

In college, things happen pretty fast that sometimes I cannot keep up with its pace. I will forever appreciate those who look back and wait for me to be able to make my strides just enough so I can keep up.
