Harvey was born in Folkestone, England April 1, 1578 and died June 3, 1657. When Harvey was growing up his parents wanted him to grow up as a merchant but later accepted him as being a doctor. Harvey went to King's School at Canterbury and moved on to Cambridge University where he studied medicine and being a physician. He worked at St. Bartholomew’s Hospital for 34 years and also worked at College of Physicians for 41 years. Later on, Harvey married a young daughter of a prominent Physician.  Harvey also published a 72-page treatise called "Anatomical Exercises Concerning the Motion of the Heart and the Blood of Living Creatures."

Harvey corrected the theory of how the body works in which the liver was the center of the vascular system and that blood was produced by the body and then consumed as fuel. This showed the people the true meaning and purpose of the heart and cardiovascular system.
