Glacier National Park was created on May 11th, 1910. The making of Glacier Park involved a lot of pushing from many different people to convince President Taft it should be a national park. Yet, George Grinwell pushed the most for the creation of this park and his hard work paid off years later when President Taft signed a bill naming Glacier as a national park. After the creation of Glacier National Park the visitors increased by much causing the need for more roads, trails, and places for them to stay (hotels). The purpose of this park is to protect and preserve the natural and cultural resources that will be needed for the future generation. It is also supposed to celebrate peace, friendship, and good will among nations.

There are over 150 mountains, 650 lakes, and 37 glaciers. The mountains were called the 'backbone of the world' and 'crown of the continent' because of the unusual shapes."That's Going-to-the-sun Mountain" is the highest peak in the park at 9642 feet. Triple Divide Peak is a 8,000 ft peak that has water from the peak flowing into the three oceans around it. (Arctic, Pacific, and Atlantic) There is also a famous 600 foot waterfall called "Bird Woman Falls" that was shaped by the water flowing from the remains of a glacier. The largest lake in Glacier National Park is the McDonald Lake. This lake was established because of a melting glacier. It's elevated at 3153 feet, 427 feet deep, and 10 miles long. The glaciers also constructed the McDonald Valley by the continuous freezing of the water flowing downwards. Last but not least, the famous 'Garden Wall'. It's a section of rock shaped by 2 glaciers carving the sides of the ridge. As you can see most of these physical features were originated from the glaciers and had to do with them melting or some sort of erosion.

The main types of ecosystems are 60% Coniferous forest. There are at least 1,132 different plants at Glacier National Park. The type of plants they have are grasses, ferns, wildflowers etc. Some of the animals they have are bears, bats, elks, and mountain lions. An example of the way an animal depends on another is when a mountain lion depends on deer, elk, moose and other smaller animals for food. The impact humans have had on the park, since so many people visit, is vegetation is trampled when they tour, there are increases in noise pollution, litter and pollution from car exhaust, according to the National Park Service.

Glacier National Park is a Subarctic and Humid Continental climate zones because the weather on one side is wet and cold and on the other side it is warm and dry. The climate change is a concern because it is rapidly increasing, which means the glaciers are melting and there is starting to be droughts so people do not have water and resources to help them live. The size and number of glaciers are decreasing because the climate is becoming warmer. The west side of mountains receives more rain and has a lot more forests. Climate change has altered tree distribution and the elevation of tree-lines have increased as the climate has increased. Alpine plants are usually unharmed from the climate, but the changes in vegetative patterns have been showing an early warning that the plants may be harmed. Different species that move around and keep a steady diet usually can adapt to the weather change other than species that stay in one place which have a harder time adapting to the climate.
