Tangible Recognition: You can use online word and Google Drive to create awards and certificates. Students can also research in order to find ideas for digital field trips that can serve as a reward for meeting a certain goal. You could also Skype with a museum's subject are expert or with a partner class in another part of the world. Another suggestion would be to use IWB software to create an interactive Student of the Week, or Student of the Month template.

Phone Calls, Emails, and Notes: Tech can allow teachers and parents to communicate about students more regularly. Text message or email can provide families with frequent academic and behavior updates. This frequent contact also provides parents with an opportunity to learn your expectations along with the students.

Tangible Recognition: Some tangible rewards include free time, field trips, class wide recognition, and individual recognition. Any awards you might print cant be included for students who have both behavioral and academic successes. Once they are printed, you can hand them out. In addition, when setting up a Skype, make sure you talk with the person on the other end of the Skype in order to work out all the details including time, what you will discuss, and allowing time for the students to ask questions. Don't forget to go over expectations as well.

Phone Calls, Emails, and Notes: Make sure you send home a positive note about a student before you send home a negative note. This way you can establish that connection with the parents on a good note. This is important particularly for students who have frequent behavior issues at school, so that positive feedback could make a huge impact. Also include emoticons in your emails, they're always fun!
