Ruby was the only kid in the classroom for most of the year and felt alone. She had to go to school with angry white people shouting hateful things at her. When ruby's parents got divorced she missed her dad. She had to help her mom take care of her younger siblings. In 1993 her youngest brother Milton, was killed in a drug related murder.

The IB learner trait that i think represents Ruby is principled. To be principled is to show recognition of right or wrong. I think Ruby is principled cause she never gave up and was always honest. Even with angry mobs of people screaming at her while she walked to school, she still went to school. Ruby never gave up and that is how she became the civil rights leader she is today.
