BMJ Best Practice provides comprehensive information on clinical topics including epidemiology, treatment options, differential diagnoses, clinical calculators and patient leaflets. The resource is fully evidence-based and is regularly updated using the latest evidence.

Type what you are looking for in the search bar. Use "...." for specific phrases. Options to filter results by date or evidence type.

Online Resources

You can self register with Open Athens here: https://openathens.nice.org.uk/ or ask the Library Team to set this up with your Library registration form.

Access to Open Athens allows you to select e-resources available from one platform, including BMJ, database searching to Royal Marsden Manual.

You can also access journal articles and e-books through this system.

If you are asked to complete any training- you will be able to follow the link to e-Learning for Healthcare to complete modules or access CPD online (depending on your job role.)

Catalogue

We have a multidisciplinary collection of books covering all clinical disciplines of relevance to the Trust. Book titles can be searched for on our Koha catalogue (click below) or you can browse our selection at the Gosall Library.

We are also part of an inter-library loans collaboration, allowing us to access books from other Trusts should we not have the title you are looking for.

We can send books directly to you if it isn't convenient for you to collect the books from the Lantern Centre. Books are loaned for 21 days, however this can be extended if needed.

We also have a self-service machine, allowing you to issue books upon your visit. All you need is your Library card.

More recently, we have been developing a well being and fiction collection with a great selection of books for all our staff to access.

If the Trust has access to this journal you can read the article immediately.

If not, add your details for the article to be sent to and the Library team will try and source this article for you.

ORCHA (the Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Applications) is an online app library, giving you the opportunity to download, share and recommend health and care related apps.
With thousands of health and care apps available on the market, it can be hard to decide which apps are reliable and trustworthy.
-ORCHA only include apps which have been reviewed against best practice criteria.
-This allows you to map apps for either your personal or professional needs.
-Simply search for the app you are looking for or browse the contents.
-Save the apps to your favourites or recommend to others (including patients via a text/email or APP code).
-Access the Digitial Health Academy for bite size training videos to gain new skills and CPD points.
