Astro Boy also known as "Mighty Atom", an animated series was the first anime to be translated and distributed overseas. It's known to be the turning point of Manga and Anime. It is said that if it weren't for the creator Osamu Teauka, Japan's Manga and anime industries would not have been the same. The creation of "Astro Boy" was intended to help children in the 1950's envision a better future. It featured lots of visual cues, such as oversized eyes, and large rounded heads. It consisted of the boy robot created by a brilliant scientist as a substitute for his son who was killed. He gave him all these superpowers, but more important than that he had a soul, a conscience and human emotion.

https://www.newuniversity.org/2021/01/18/astro-boy-the-turning-point-of-manga-and-anime/
