Ebola was discovered in 1976 near the Ebola River which is now in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The virus was traced down to a single person, probably infected by a bat. The virus can be passed on through direct contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected fruit bats or primates. During the first outbreak in Congo, nurses in the hospitals used 5 syringes for 300-600 patients a day. This indirect contact with bodily fluids through the syringe helped the virus spread even quicker. In occurrence of this the World Health Organization predicts nearly 60% of all Ebola cases reported can be linked to traditional burial practices.

Currently there is no cure for the Ebola Virus although there is many highly effective treatments.
Treatments include a type of lemon (Benzeher lemon) and the seeds of Nigella sativa plant. These are two strong natural products for prevention and cure of Ebola disease. Another home made treatment would Providing intravenous fluids (IV) and balancing electrolytes, maintaining oxygen status and blood pressure and treating other infections if they occur. No treatment works 100% yet although the closest cure would be the VSV-EBOV vaccine which is effective 85 to 95% of the time.

The Ebola virus is highly transmissible by direct contact with infected blood, and other bodily fluids from dead or living infected people. The first outbreak of the virus was passed on through direct contact with the blood, body fluids and tissues of infected fruit bats and primates. The current outbreak of Ebola was about 50% from direct contact through cultural and traditional practices. The practices included getting the bodies ready for the ceremony to respect the dead. Through this the people who prepared the bodies were infected by the very contagious bodies that had been killed by this disease.
