How many of you have an account with at least 1 of these social media sites? At least 2? 3? All 4? It's safe to say that social media has an obvious presence in our day to day lives. Snapchat allows us to send pictures and videos instantaneously. Twitter gives us a platform to diffuse short opinions. Instagram provides a space to display pictures, arranged in a certain way for a long period of time. Facebook connects us with friends and family, locally and around the world. The list could go on of social media platforms and their possible functions. Certainly, social media allows us to connect with others and discover new ideas, but is social media always positive? I often think about how many hours I spend in a week scrolling through various feeds on my phone. It becomes addicting. Think about all the other productive things I could have been doing! So yes, on one hand I love staying connected with friends and family through social media, but on the other hand I fear that I waste an incredible amount of time repeatedly flipping through apps.
