My best friend and I went through this phase in middle school, everyone was doing it. The comb overs! Still to this day we look back at our photos and laugh at ourselves for thinking we looked good parting our hair so far over to one side, we barely had anything left on the other. Middle school was not my prime years.

I currently work as an optician in a vision center. I am a first semester nursing student. I witnessed my youngest sibling born at the age of 16 and in that moment I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in nursing as a Labor and Delivery nurse!

I listen to a lot of music today's hits '80-'90 hits, country, pop, hip hop, you name it. I try not to pick a favorite, there's too many good ones! Here's lyrics to a song I have been playing on repeat;
"She never compromises, loves babies and surprises..."
Oldie but goodie
Nice to meet you all!

So the one thing I can think of that was funny that happened to me in middle school was I remember one day falling asleep. This never happened as I was a good student and never did that. Well needless to say after my wonderful little nap I woke up to find everyone in my class was gone. Lol come to find out my teacher let me snooze until I woke up. Never will I do that again.

The reason I decided to do medical was because well honestly I started off doing veterinary, in the end it just wasn’t something I could do as some clinics I shadowed put animals down for no reason. So I turned to human health. I absolutely love surgery and just have a huge fascination with the human body. My other interest would be to work as a nurse investigator. Hoping to oneday fulfill one of these goals.

This was kind of hard as I have quiet a few favorite songs.
" The road we're on ain't a traffic jam
It's a Sunday drive on a piece of land”

I had a lot of funny moments in middle school I was kind of known as the class clown. But, one thing that I remember is that I still talk about to this day is that I used to have a comedy act on the bus that I would do on our way home from school. It was a good way to destress from the day while hanging with friends.

I aspire to be an RN, and have been in the medical field as a CNA for 7 years. I have a lot of family that are also in the medical field so that also peaked my interest! I'm not sure what specialty of nursing that I want to do so hopefully clinicals will help me with that.

I grew up listening to all types of music and genres so I will just type the song that is in my head at this time...

"Love, love me do
You know I love you
I'll always be true
So please, love me do
Whoa, love me do"

1. My parents once bought me some new jeans for Middle School. They are very nice jeans, and one day at school me and my friends do all over them with permanent marker. When I got home that day my parents were livid, and they gave me a speech about how I would regret doing that, and how they spent money and I ruined them. Somewhere in the near future, I wore those jeans and I missed my bus. My parents would not give me a ride to school, and insisted that I walked. Halfway through my walk it started to downpour. I had to go the whole day with these wet jeans, and the permanent marker drawings and signatures that I thought it looked cool we're now smeared and awful. But that's not the worst part. When I got home later that day to take off my pants, I had permanent marker smudging songs all over my legs. It took days to get them off, and I regretted writing on those jeans, just like my parents said I would.

2. For long timeI did not know what I wanted to do. I went to school for photography, for teaching elementary school, for business management, amongst a few other things. My step-mom over those years try to convince me to go take my CNA class and become a nurse. I refused I had no interest in doing that. but after trying all these other programs and realized I didn't want to do him I decided whatever I'll just take the CNA class. I fell in love instantly. I love taking care of people, I think I have a knack for it. So here I am in the pathophysiology class and pursuing nursing.

3. In Midnight's, in cups of coffee

I lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma during part of my middle school years. My grandparents had horses, I went to the stables to pet our horse named Oreo and he bit me. It was during the Fall, I recall wearing a long sleeved denim jacket. After being bit I rolled up my sleeve to inspect the bite and was able to see the teeth marks from Oreo on my forearm. That was a powerful bite and one I will never forget!

I worked as a Nursing Assistant when I was 17 years old (a long time ago), that was my first experience in healthcare. It was in a long term care facility and I could not eat at all during that shift. I was sure nursing was not for me. After several shifts of working as a Nursing Assistant, I became use to the environment and did that type of work for 9 years before I decided to pursing Nursing. I graduated in 2012 with my LPN Diploma, went back to a Long Term Care Facility and was blown away at how impossible working as an LPN with high patient to staff ratios was. At that point, I decided that I needed to do something different as working in Long Term Care was not a good fit for me. I need more education to provide more opportunities for me. I'm enrolled in a University that offers an LPN to BSN track. I am currently following that program.

As for my song: I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way, show them all the beauty they possess inside, give them a sense of pride to make it easier, let the children's laughter, remind us how we use to be...

1. In middle school, my mom straightened my hair very pretty for picture day. While on my way to school, I got caught in the rain. As a result, my hair shrunk to a small afro. There was nothing I could do to fix it. So I took the picture looking like Simba from the movie, "Lion King", after he came out of the water.
2. I desire to become a nurse to help others. So many times I'd see people needing medical attention and there was absolutely nothing I could do to help because I didn't have any experience. I felt/feel so helpless during those moments.
3. Favorite Song Lyric:
"They say don't get bitter, get better, I'm working on switching those letters. But tell God I'm going to need a whole lot of hope keeping it together......"
"Just fight a little longer my friend, it's all worth it in the end. But when you got nobody to turn to, just hold on and I'll (God) find you."
