If students are well behaved, on task, and if they understand the rules and expectations for class- then pacing will be successful. Lessons will be able to begin promptly and there is no loss of instructional time. Classroom management allows for a lesson's structure to have that beginning, middle, end and the time for reflection.

Classroom management starts with the teacher. Lesson structure and pacing set the stage for minimizing inappropriate behaviors in the classroom. When everything is flowing smoothly and keeping the students engaged, they don't have time to get off task. Expectations provide the structure for how the students should be acting at all times in class.
