Technology has been on a rise in recent years, thus causing schools to strongly look into incorporating technology into classrooms. Although, there are positives and negatives that come along with technology in classrooms, there has been a major shift with schools incorporating some sort of technology into education. Technology in classrooms has become a source of educational learning and teaching, therefore this movement has caused an impact on my future role as a high school teacher. 

2) Best practices related to my topic, "Technology in Classrooms" is: (1) encourage the use of technology, as it will allow students to collaborate with one another, (2) classroom culture, as a teacher, you want to ensure all of your students are on board with the use of technology and feel comfortable, and (3) maintain flexibility, as you have to be prepared for anything with the use of technology.

3) An area emerging issue related to my topic, "Technology in Classrooms" is professional development. Educators should watch to see how professional development plays out and impacts work as this is one of several technology challenges facing education. Professional development is key, especially with high school students, who are not far from going to college or entering the "real world." As a future high school teacher, it is important to use technology correctly and ensure students are prepared for their future in a professional matter. 

4) The person I elected to interview is Coach Scott Starnes, Quarterbacks Coach/History Teacher, Wakeland High School in Frisco, Texas. In interviewing Coach Starnes, he was able to inform me that the topic of technology in classrooms is something he has had experience with in recent years. Coach Starnes informed me of a policy he uses with his students and student athletes is; as long as technology (computers, cellphones, tablets, etc.) is being used for educational purposes, with the exception of emergencies, students may use technology at their will. Coach Starnes believes technology serves the purpose in aiding students with unlimited knowledge. Coach Starnes stated that although he has had his fair share of issues with technology being used improperly, for the most part, he believes technology has help increase the knowledge of his students and student athletes. Coach Starnes stated whenever he has issues with technology being used improperly, he confiscates the devices and has the student go speak with the principal in order for the student to retain the privilege of using technology in his classroom. Coach Starnes is a firm believer in visuals as a learning tool, and with the help of technology, such as videos found on YouTube, he has been able to demonstrate a multitude of knowledge to his students and student athletes. Coach Starnes stated at the beginning of each school year, Wakeland High School has a mandatory seminar in which technology use in classrooms is discussed in great detail. Coach Starnes stated the seminar is a great time to learn of all the new rules and regulations the school plans to implement for the upcoming school year. Coach Starnes informed me he stay current on the topic of technology in classrooms, by reading articles that can be found online, as well as having conversations with his fellow colleges.

Veteran teacher, Ken Halla goes into detail about the following topics as related to smartphones use in classrooms; "ensuring it stays academic, use smartphones to stay organized and assess learning, apps for the social sciences and let fun foster productivity" ("Using Smartphones in the Classroom"). "Using Smartphones in the Classroom" is an excellent article in which demonstrates how the technology in classrooms has become an integral part in student's educational experiences ("Using Smartphones in the Classroom").

The article discusses how "technology has changed how educators think about teaching and learning" (Contributor, 2019). Although incorporating technology into classrooms may seem like an easy task to most, it requires a lot of time and money. The article discusses how technology may become incorporated into some classrooms quicker than others due to a teacher's adoption of technology into their classroom. Incorporating technology into classrooms has caused "misconceptions about the use of technology in the classroom" to arise. (Contributor, 2019). In conclusion, technology in classrooms requires dedication from both students and educators in order to maintain a successful presence in education.
