Tom Robinson respected others, he helped others without a cost. "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy. They don't eat up people's gardens, they don't nest in corncribs, they don't do one thing but sing their hearts out for us" (Lee 119). They can't kill a mockingbird because the mockingbirds don't do anything but please us. "Tried to help her I says" (Lee 263). This shows how Tom Robinson just wanted to help Mayella, with no twisted thought in his mind.
