Artist Statement

For my project, I was initially inspired by dreamy and hazy photography techniques. I was very interested in using different lighting and editing techniques to achieve this look. After working on our mini assignments in class, particularly double exposure, I shifted my idea slightly. I really enjoyed the process of creating double exposures, and thought that the look they create is very similar to the dreamy vibe I wanted to achieve. I also wanted to focus more on both in camera and photoshop techniques to shape my project, and I wanted the final result to showcase the skills I have learned over the trimester. I took photos of my model and of various scenic spots in Michigan and played around with them, searching for different ways to layer them together. Overall, I feel that my project represents the skills I have learned over the trimester, and creates a cohesive and ethereal feeling.
