One emotion that positively influences critical thinking is confidence. When you feel confident in yourself, you feel more ready to take on many different types of situations and gain the ability to think clearly and rationally. Stress, on the other hand, can negatively impact critical thinking as it prevents you from making clear decisions, you are just acting on impulse.

One example of a type of emotion that has a positive effect on critical thinking is being hopeful because it allows the person to try to look on the bright side no matter what the situation is, and it makes the person not want to give up just yet because they are hopeful for the future or the outcome of a situation. An example of a type of emotion that has a negative effect on critical thinking is resentful because they might have experienced something and later on, they would only think of that bad moment that they have had and this can lead to not being able to have an open mind and try new things because they are hard-headed and won't want to try it again.

Stress can block any positive outcomes to situations that needs a thought out solution. Stress can also physically affect you. It can hurt your sleeping, which correlates with your thinking patterns. Stress effects your gut health too, which again, is what you need for proper thinking.
-An example of a positive emotion is determination. This emotion or state has an effect to think reasonably in situations that might trigger different negative emotions or unreasonableness. To be able to gather yourself in a calm manner gives you a time to think reasonably and critically.
ex. When I feel calm, I am able to resolve arguments with my siblings reasonably and without hurting them.
-A negative emotion such as anger can negatively affect our critical thinking ability because anger often is driven by a rush of adrenaline and often causes us to make decisions quickly and without thinking critically.
