At the beginning of this activity we needed to discuss with our partner what score we'll put to each cover letter. This part was easy because we agreed in so many aspects.

It was interesting, when all the pairs shared the scores with the rest of the class, to see how analising the same cover letters and with the same tool to evaluate, my classmates and me had different marks.

About the analytic scoring, sometimes was difficult to find the right score because you need to valorate about your own perception and you have few numbers that you can pick. For example: if the content is good you need to pick a score between 22 and 26, and I find hard to pick the right number.

About the holistic scoring, was difficult to find the right score because maybe I though the score 5 it was the best one, put the cover letter didn't have done all the aspect that we are evaluating in that level.

The influence of the models on me would be good but in the other hand doing the task without them it was a challenge so it was all right as well! 
 
The main difficulties I encountered were on spelling, because sometimes I have doubts about how to spell certain words (if the word has an E, or an A, or an S instead of a C.. things like that) 
 
The first thing I though before to start this kind of letter was: “How is the structure of a cover letter?” and I had a quick thought about I wanted to structure my information and then, I was revising the structure once I finished each paragraph just to check if all the things I wanted to say were there. 
 
Maybe the pressure to write the task in time, made me obviate some information or saying it with easy words... Basically, if I could change something I would try to rewriting it a bit more formal.

I have never been in the situation of the recruiter and they are the ones who direct the interview all the time so they have some kind of pressure as well.

The main thing we practise today was talking about our skills and how to sound fluent and natural with some expressions.

At the end of the session we were practising the interviews with other classmates and I realised I need to have in mind a little structure about what I want to say in the real interview, or even what I could omite next time. Also we were having a look to the rubric that the teacher is going to use to evaluate us, so we can pay attention to the aspects that we need to cover.

As recruter, I think we need to be friendly and show interest about what the applicant is telling us. A good way to show interest about the conversation during the interview, is using question tags. Also, the recruter is the one who is in charge about the structure because is who is making the questions.

As an applicant, I think we need to be calm and try to show our best part (professional and personal). The way I practise the interview it was by my own was pretending I was the recruiter or the applicant. They have different interactions during the interview so I just was acting in one position or in the other one.  In addition, I was using as reference the “Getting a job interview handout” to check some of the questions that a recruiter could ask you or an applicant could answer.

Before the oral interaction task, we had few minutes to practice it when our partner and we were talking about what kind of questions we were going to make or answer. It was curious for me, that when we were talking outside about: what are we going to do? What do we want to say?, What do you want to ask?, etc.. once I was inside the classroom, I just forgot about everything and I just left myself do my character in the interview and I didn’t like it too much because I felt I lost the control of the situation but actually I think I did it well!

I think my attitude and pronunciation during the interview were correct and also I felt confident with myself.

I made my final project when I finished my teaching degree and it was the only one I wrote in all my life and I’ve never done any other research so I forgot how the structure was and I didn’t have any clue about how to call the parts of the structure in English. I’ve never heard before about these rules had a number on it. I just knew about “APA” and they were the rules that I had to follow every time I wrote a document for my subjects in university during my degree in UV. Probably I used them before, here in Florida, but I don’t really remember it.

It is good to know about it (or at least refresh it) because for me, all these years without being in contact with universities or doing tasks and documents related with researches, is helpful to know about it and understand that following a coherent structure is important to make easy for people look for and find information about a topic in one document.

This song belongs to the music group Oasis. Oasis were an Mancunian rock band formed in 1991. At the beginning, they were known as the Rain. The group initially consisted of Liam Gallagher (lead vocals and tambourine), Paul Arthurs (guitar), Paul McGuigan (bass guitar) and Tony McCarroll (drums). Liam's older brother Noel (lead guitar, vocals) later joined as a fifth member, finalising the group's core lineup. The genre of the band is rock & Britpop. This last genre was a mid-1990s British-based music culture movement that emphasised Britishness and it’s is defined as an alternative rock.

The song begins with the singer talking about wanting to leave a city and look for another one to live. He feels that his mind is giving him signs to do it and run away. In the chorus, the singer says: "Scratching around the same old hole" and he indicates he still has not been able to do it yet. He also says that his body may feel young, but his mind feels old because he never was able to leave the city. In other words, he never had the strength to move away from the city. 

From my point of view, I like to think about of the main point of the song could be a soul mate whom the singer has not yet met, but still imagines that the person is out there somewhere. But the hopes of meeting a soul mate do no good as long as they are stuck in the "old town." In other words, to find the right person, he feels he has to go to other city and there he will find his soul mate there.

Anyone who likes this genre will really enjoy listening because it is not a very long song and the words are easy to understand. If I were you, I would go to Spotify or YouTube and I’d start listening it!
