When we are discussing the challenges of working with our constituents it is important to discuss the fact that as staff members we feel like that we are often trying to communicate with home but not getting any response.

This can can mean contacting home about grades and not having any parental response, or informing families about a lack of attendance & not having support for student attendance.
This can also be relevant when we talk about altercations/fights where we know that there have been conflicts but we don't know if anything has been done to improve the situation but rather it has been pushed to another time or place.

The other MAJOR issue that we discussed is that we as staff members felt that we felt that we often are not able to communicate efficiently with parents & students current information because we do not get updates until moments before a change. Our admin seems to be very reactive in decision-making still (even when we know that specific events happen EVERY year).

Decisions about our actual teaching positions are made without consulting us, and then we are stuck teaching classes we aren't most suited for. There are colleagues of mine who are history buffs not teaching 11th grade ELA, and teachers who love teaching 10th grade ELA teaching in other areas. There are non-masters degree, new teachers to the building teaching honors and AP students, frustrating parents with their inexperience, while masters degree teachers who have been here over a decade have their education going to waste with teaching remedial classes. It would be nice to be asked what position we would like to teach in instead of having the decision made without our input.
