• For this activity students will be in groups of 4-5

• They will have 10 minutes to brainstorm and write a newscast using as many idioms as possible to tell a news story

• Each group will present their newscast for the classroom

• The group that uses the most idioms wins

• Teacher will put idioms on strips of paper and place into a bowl

  • Examples: "Grasping at straws," "Drop in the bucket," "At the drop of a hat," "Back to square one," etc.

• Paired students will choose an idiom at random from the bowl

• Utilizing drawing supplies and/or props, the students will act out the idiom

• Remaining students in the class will guess what the idiom is.

• The teacher will call on a pair of students to answer what the Idiom actually means

• The winning team chooses their idiom to act out next
