The book tackles the idea of picky eating, but the rhyming verse and illustrations make it a fun story for young children to read.
My mother read the story to me when I was a child, and she used to say that it was a book about me, because it had my name and I closely resembled the little girl in the illustrations. Even though now I realize now that the author probably didn't create the book about me, it was still really great that at the time, I was able to see myself in a story.

"You matter" by Christian Robinson is one of the books I recommend for a heart-felt read. Honestly, I stumbled on this book when I was walking through Target. The Title "You matter" stuck out to me the most. I feel like growing up, there were stories that emphasized belonging and place in the world. However, it was told through animals. This book really captivated me with the art and just the simplicity of it. It's about a girl, who while kneading masa with her mother, decides to put her mother's diamond ring on. Later in the day, she discovers that the ring is missing, and that it must have came off while kneading the masa. With the tamales already being cooked, it's up to her cousins and Maria to find the tamale that has her mother's ring. 
I really liked this story because it made me think of my grandma Connie and my favorite sweet pineapple tamales she would make. It also reminds me of how silly we can be when we're little.

I remember going to the library with my classmates, and eagerly listening to the librarian read this story. The message of teamwork and forgiveness that the book conveyed has stayed with me ever since. I learned that the story was not just about solving the mystery of who took the cookies, but it was also about learning to work together and forgive each other's mistakes. In the end, it was revealed that the dad was the one who ate all the cookies, but he showed remorse and apologized. The other characters forgave him and he even shared the last cookie with everyone else. I love this book because it talks about how much a mother loves her children. I have read it to my babies multiple times. It's a book that talks about her unconditional love towards her son. How she will rock him every night and sing to him. How at the end the son grows up to take care of his mom just like she used  to when he was a baby. And he continues the same with his daughter. "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always, As long as I'm living my baby you'll be."

This is a wonderful bilingual book in Spanish and English with a gothic feel to it.

The tree would give the child apples and let the child play on its branches, and they were both happy. As the boy aged, however, he became the type to only visit the tree to ask for stuff. The tree provided by turning parts of itself into the boy's wants (such as a boat or house). The tree was happy to give, but after a long time the tree starts to get tired of always giving. Thankfully, the boy, now an old man, visits and just wants a quiet place. 

The story could be interpreted as how unconditional love could come to the giver's detriment. It could also symbolically represent the relationship between a pampering parent (the tree) and a spoiled child, ending with the child eventually coming around and just wanting to give the tree company.
