During World War II, Hungary printed currency to finance its war. This happened between 1939 and 1945. They did this because they needed more money to support their military and wartime expenses. Printing money led to hyperinflation, causing prices to rise very fast and people's savings to lose value rapidly. After the war, Hungary faced economic unrest and had to rebuild its economy from scratch.

The American Civil War took place from 1861-1865.

In 1860, as Abraham Lincoln was elected president, 11 slaveholding southern states seceded from the US union, forming the 'Confederate States of America'(CSA) which led to a civil war.

In 1861, the CSA printed its own money and circulated it in the form of promissory notes called 'graybacks'; the holders of these notes were promised to get gold/silver once CSA won the war.
As the south lost the war, the value of these notes reduced drastically, causing inflation in the economy as prices of goods increased largely.

Later in 1865, the CSA surrendered and the currency lost its value completely

Argentina printed money to finance its expenditures during World War II, which took place from 1939 to 1945. This war involved many of the world's countries, including all of the great powers, eventually forming two opposing military alliances: the Allies and the Axis.

It was the most widespread war in history, with more than 100 million people serving in military units. In general, countries involved in the war, directly or indirectly, faced increased financial demands to support military efforts and related activities. These demands often exceeded the regular revenues collected through taxes and other means. To cover these expenses, governments, including Argentina's, resorted to printing more money. This leads to inflation if the amount of money in circulation grows faster than the economy's capacity to produce goods and services, as it increases the demand for goods without a corresponding increase in supply, leading to higher prices.

For Argentina, the decision to print money was influenced by the need to finance the economic and military demands of the war period, despite Argentina's official neutrality for much of WWII.

Tejas - Great Britain During WWII (1939-1945)

The fight against the Axis put a heavy strain on the British economy as the war drew many resources (such as those in the workforce who were recruited for fighting, military supplies and innovation, and expanding and maintaining the Navy and Airforce). However the military was not the only thing the British government spent more on. They also spent on rations for the civilians, propaganda, and infrastructure to name a few. This was money that the government just didn't have and hence they resorted to printing money in order to meet the financial burdens of the war. The subsequent inflation that occurred increased the cost of living in Great Britain and also lead to a massive increase in inequality between the mostly insulated rich and the poor who suffered the most. Britain also took on debt from domestic citizens through bonds, through citizens of the empire in wealthy places like Canada and Australia, and from their ally, the United States of America in order to ease their economic burden during the war. It was also the United States who helped rebuild Britain and other post war European countries through the Marshall plan, which is why the economy of the United Kingdom no longer is ruined today as it once was during WW2.

During the French Revolution from 1789-1799; the revolutionary government faced immense financial issues due to the lack of efficient management of funds during the reign of Louis XVI. This resulted in the National Assembly issuing a form of paper currency known as "Assignats" in 1789. These were initially backed by church-confiscated land but were then later removed from any tangible attachments. The excessive printing of Assignats led to hyperinflation, contributing to economic instability during the revolutionary period.
