In 2020, the PTK Mentoring Committee proposed a robust faculty mentoring program, submitting a comprehensive dossier of documents to department chair Amanda Bailey. While the proposal was approved, we felt the faculty at large might struggle to parse the conditions under which they'd want/need to seek mentorship. To alleviate these concerns, the committee developed the above infographic for widespread faculty distribution via email and in Tawes Hall.

I’ve remediated my position paper into a Digital Poster Series designed for the University of Maryland campus. While my paper is a formal argument directed at the Vice President for Student Affairs, this poster serves as the "public face" of that argument, translating dense academic research into high impact visuals that any student walking through Stamp Student Union would immediately understand.

For my paper, I am looking at the harmful effects of misinformation about fitness on social media. My flyer is meant to be posted in fitness centers and gyms for a general audience (basically anyone) to look at to help them determine if the information they are getting is reliable.

For my final paper, I researched the many issues in Maryland's healthcare system. I wrote my paper in regard to Governor Wes Moore. The goal of the infographic posted above is to inform Wes Moore and anyone who looks at it about the issues surrounding them in their day-to-day lives regarding the healthcare system.

My public remidiation, titled “Athletes & the Reality of PED Use,” raises awareness about why athletes turn to performance-enhancing drugs and how the issue can be addressed. The visual highlights key factors like pressure to perform, competition, and social media influence, showing how these can push athletes toward quick results despite serious risks. It also emphasizes the consequences, including health problems, suspensions, and long-term damage to an athlete’s reputation and career.

At the same time, it presents realistic alternatives, such as proper training, nutrition, and recovery, along with better education about the dangers of PEDs. It also highlights the importance of strong support systems so athletes don’t feel alone. Overall, the goal is to encourage success through discipline and hard work rather than shortcuts.

Artists Statement: This infographic I created addresses the growing debate around lab-grown meat by presenting it as a safe, sustainable, and ethical alternative to traditional meat production. It is designed for a general audience, particularly young consumers, using clear visuals and also concise language to make this complex and scientific idea accessible/easily understandable. The goal is to inform viewers, address common concerns, and encourage a more open-minded perspective toward these innovative food technologies.

Because my position paper was written for a professional audience, I wanted to take the same argument and turn it into something that anyone could understand just by looking at it, which is why I chose an infographic. My audience for the infographic is basically anyone who owns a pet or cares about animals, and people who don’t know this crisis is happening, but would care if they did. My goal was to get the most important stats across fast and make it feel urgent, because the shortage is a real problem that doesn’t get enough attention.

For my public remediation, I created a visual poster to translate the main ideas of my position paper into a simple and easy-to-understand format for a general audience. The poster focuses on how Hallyu has shaped South Korea’s global image and presents both the positive and negative sides of that influence. By using clear sections, short statements, and familiar examples like K-pop, K-dramas, and Parasite, I aim to show that while Korean pop culture makes Korea seem modern and successful, it also creates an idealized version of reality. The goal of the poster is to make people think more critically about how media shapes perception and to understand that what is shown does not always reflect everyday life.

I wrote my position paper on the various effects of repeated exposure to social media, which includes, social comparison, lower self-esteem, mental health affects, and change in behavior and decision making. For my flyer I mainly focused on self-esteem, behavior and mental health being affected by algorithm-driven exposure. It’s aimed at students and young adults using social media and uses research to explain why prolonged use can negatively affect confidence and well-being. The goal is to raise awareness, encourage mindful engagement with social media, and prove that the effects are larger than people may think.
