Reading a story and then thinking about the story and putting it in order helps us to understand better what we have read. Here is a story about a hippo and a turtle that formed a unique friendship under unusual circumstances. There is a read aloud here for you to listen to the story. Also a printable sequence sheet for you to put the story in order. I have included some other fun resources that go along with Owen and Mzee.
https://www.readingrockets.org/pdfs/storymap_simple.pdf

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJngdGrIfeA

http://www.owenandmzee.com/omweb/kidsboma.html
