I have attended all of my lessons since I started the course. I have turned up slightly late to a few of my lessons, this is usually because I wake up a bit late or it took a bit longer to walk than usual.

2. Research/ analysis skills.

I need to research some more places for work experience, I have looked for a few but I think I could still find some more. From the ones I have found I have found out the type of job i want from media.

3. Confidence in written and verbal communication.

I am not very confident when it comes to verbal communication, I tend to get nervous. My confidence in my written communication is ok. I am not particularly great at literacy but I think I am ok.

4. Organisation skills/ meeting deadlines.

This week I have completed my homework for Lorraine but I left it a lot later than I wanted to. This shows me that i need to put more time into my homework.

5. What I need to improve.

I need to make some of my work reach a higher level as I didn't put enough effort into it when it was originally set.

Stringers only work part time and they only get paid for the work they complete. most journalists and photographers are freelance. This means that they get no regular salary. Stringers have lots of contact with many different organisations. they often have more than one contract at a time. A benefit is that the company only has to pay for the contract but they have to rely heavily on the stringer.

Freelance

Freelancers are normally self employed but are picked up by agencies. They will get a brief with requirements and expectations. A lot of film editors are normally freelance. the benefits of being a freelancer are the flexible hours and the amount of control over the clients you work for. The drawbacks are that the work is not stable and personal time can be lost due to a lot of work. companies will benefit as they only pay for your service. A drawback for the company is that freelancers are not always available.

Casual worker

There are pros and cons to being a casual worker. A pro is that you do not have to work full time. this means you have more time to do other things. A drawback to being a casual worker is that you have no leave entitlements. This means you have to work whenever the ask you to. Another benefit of being a casual worker is that you get a higher hourly pay. another drawback to being a casual worker is that there is no guarantee of regular hours or income.

Part time

Part time work means less hours than full time work. part time workers can work a maximum of 32 hours a week. Photographers are usually only part time as people generally don't need photographers for a full week. A benefit for the employees is that they have more time to do other things. A drawback is that part time workers don't earn as much money as full time workers. A benefit for the employers is that part time workers are abundant as the requirements are usually quite low.

Fixed term

 Fixed term means that you work until a scheduled date. Fixed term usually means that you will work from a contract. A benefit is that you will working at sedates meaning that you have more time to do thing when you are not working. As a fixed term employee you are entitled to the same rights as a person who works full time.

Full time

People who work full time work more than 35 hours a week. Most companies in media need full time staff. A benefit for full time workers is that they get a good, stable pay. Full time staff also get holiday allowance and sick pay. A drawback is that some people get too contempt and comfortable with the company which means they become slow and fail to advance and grow with the company. To work full time you need to be very committed as you will be staying with the company for quite a while.

working practices within radio are responsible for broadcasting music and information to their targeted audience. They involve presenters, advertisers producers , and live editors that all have the purpose of getting you into their station. they are responsible for broadcasting music and information to people in the area.

They are influenced by technological developments daily, as when new editing and audio software is created they tend to use it to broadcast their content. Also they have to update their advertising methods constantly, as when new services and advertisements become available, they will use them to create new ways of reaching out to people.

The types of contracts that they employ people on can range from full, fixed term and part time, as people tend to work a number of hours per week to ensure that they can broadcast their content out.

They offer these contracts because Different people within the industry will require different roles to ensure production is done properly. For example, radio dJ's are on a full time basis, as they have a contract that they have to abide by, and they have to complete over 35 hours a week during talk shows and whilst they are broadcasting.

OFCOM is a communication regulator. they regulate the TV, radio and video on demand sectors, fixed line telecoms, mobiles, postal services, plus the airwaves over which wireless devices operate.

Legislation and Ethics

In radio you have to be very careful when it comes to ethics and legislation as you are dealing with a large number of people at one time. you have to make sure you don't offend anyone. This means avoiding touchy subjects wherever possible.

Workers have generally specific skills and are employed for a certain job. usually hundreds of workers working on the same film at the same time. They must be able to perform their skill set to a high standard even if waiting a long time. They must be able to work in a casual working environment and be comfortable with what you are wearing.

Technological developments

They have to keep up to date with recent technology because big companies will always be looking to use the newest equipment in order to produce better films than their
