What were the Palmer Raids?: The Palmer Raids, initiated by the U.S. Department of Justice in 1919 and 1920, aimed to arrest foreign anarchists, communists, and radical leftists. Many of these individuals were subsequently deported.

Why has the Sacco/Vanzetti Case become such a prominent court case in American History?: Because they were immigrants and they were doing huge crimes, and after they went to court, this got rid of all of the illegal immigrants out of the United States.

What impact did these three sports figures have on mainstream popular culture during the 1920s?:

• Babe Ruth contributed record-breaking home runs to political campaigns. He did a lot while playing baseball. He broke records on the field. When it came to baseball, he had many home runs. There were 54 total in 1920, so in one year, he hit 54. He also participated in lots of political events for the Democratic party.

• Jack Dempsey, Because of his popularity, made boxing a big deal. He had a total of over 500,000 people who saw Dempsey's.

• Knute Rockne was a coach, and for 13 years, he led Notre Dame. Rockne's team won 105 games, lost 12, and tied 5. They were declared national champions in 1924, 1929, and 1930.

Blues: Bessie Smith sang the song "Down Hearted Blues." She becomes one of the highest-paid black entertainers in the country. She sang about what black people experienced

Causes of Racial Tension in the 1920s?: Blacks were creating music and making their own things, and the older white men did not like what they were doing

 What was the Dr. Ossian Sweet Case? Dr. Sweet was arrested and charged with the murder after a member of a white mob attacked his home and was shot and killed.

• Garrett Morgan invented the first electric traffic light as traffic lights became increasingly common in various places. This innovation had a significant impact, as it enhanced road safety and helped slow down drivers.

• Refrigerators became very popular around the 1920s. At first, people didn't think they needed them, but after they got them, they realized how much nicer they were, and sales went up. Now, we have them, and they help store all our food.

• A policeman in California, John Larson, invented the polygraph. It measures your heart rate, breathing, and blood pressure. If it shows sudden changes, it means you are lying. To this day, we use polygraphs to help solve crimes.
