This GIF shows a man opening the door and being in total shock. The GIF represents Macduff finding King Duncan’s body in Macbeths Castle, after finding the body he tells people to wake up and ring the alarm bell indicating something horrific happened. This ties into the theme ambition because it shows what Macbeth will do for power.

Donalbain and Malcolm's flight after King Duncan’s murder makes people suspicious, as it’s commonly believed that those who run away are guilty. This suspicion makes it easier for Macbeth to take the throne, even though he is the real murderer. In this way, Malcolm and Donalbain’s decision to flee actually helps Macbeth gain power.

Macbeth fakes irrational anger to eliminate the two guards of Duncan before they can respond after the murder. Macbeth admits his murder of the guards because of his intense rage although he first declares "O yet I do repent me of my fury, / That I did kill them" (Act 2, Scene 3). His killing of the guards serves to suppress their innocence and prevents them from revealing the truth about the murder. At first most people believe Macbeth but Macduff doubts him and feels there is something wrong.

The murder of Duncan causes natural disturbances to hapoen as signs that the universe has fallen out of equilibrium. During Act 2 Scene 4 the dialogue between Ross and an old man features their account of an owl causing the death of a falcon while Duncan's horses resorted to eating each other. In the same way Macbeth eliminated King Duncan even though he possessed smaller strength. The unusual behavior in nature indicates that Scotland has been thrown into disarray because someone was killed.
