Lieutenant General Joseph Wheeler was a very good commander who rose from the first rank to lieutenant corps commander in just four years. In the summer of 1862 General Bragg chose his to lead the calverary army of Mississippi and was incharge of two cavalry troops. Wheeler disliked one of the confederate cavalry leaders and then that led to his resignation. Wheeler then gained charge of the calvary army of tennessee. During Sherman's Atlanta campaign. During this campaign he led raids on shermans supply lines. He was taken prisoner in Georgia in may 1865 but was quickly released and then moved back to Alabama and then became a congressman.

The battle of chickamauga took place in summer of 1863 in lafayette georgia. The Confederate had won the battle with general bragg. This war was one of the bloodiest wars in history. This resulted in 16000 union casualties and nearly over 18,500 were wounded or killed in the confederate army. This battle was one of the most important battles in Georgia because this battle was a surprise attack for both sides. Both sides had no clue that they were about to clash with each other and this caused it to also be one of the bloodiest battles during the civil war.

Bragg retreated south and separated into 3 groups.

George wanted to set up camp in the south so he headed to georgia

He then encountered one of the groups in georgia
