  • A Greek Persian Martyr Act: Shirin

    • This is a Persian Martyr Act preserved in Greek. It was written ca. 600/610 CE, but it is now only preserved in a manuscript dating from the 11th century in the Biblioteca Medicea, Florence. This text is very important because it is a "unicum", i. e., the only manuscript we preserve of this account. The martyr is not mentioned in any other texts and we have not found any material remains (shrines, etc.) related to her. Also, it is an interesting source to examine all the elements we have come across these weeks.
