What is the theme/topic/subject?	</strong></div><div>The theme of the article is immigration and it is about how to become a part of Britain without forgetting about the past and your forefathers. (your own culture and family).	</div><div><br></div><div>The topic is about a family moving from other countries to work and adapting to&nbsp; their new society, It shows the difference between the three generations of immigrants. The first generation not being completely Britons still holding on to their culture and their fear that their chlildren would forget about their roots. The second genration is part of the British culture too. They have influences both from&nbsp; the British and Asian cultures.&nbsp; They do not feel completely British or Pakistani. The third generation are more confident not afraid to express their Asian roots.&nbsp; They are also a part of British culture and they do not have a strong if any to their parents´ or grandparents´home country.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Language and Presentation</strong></div><div><strong>&nbsp;</strong></div><div><strong>1. Does the writer appeal to logos? If so, find examples in the text.&nbsp;<br></strong><br></div><div>The writer appeals to logos sometimes. Does the writer appeal to pathos? If so, find examples in the text.&nbsp;<br></strong><br></div><div>Pathos is one of the more central appeals. He uses his own story to appeal to the reader’s feelings.&nbsp;<br><br></div><div>“He left Pakistan, where his wife and young family remained, and travelled more than 6,000 kilometres to a cold, wet land full of pink strangers who spoke a different language”. (p.135)<br><br></div><div>We gain sympathy for his father. &nbsp;<br><br></div><div><strong>3. How is the text structured? Is there a coherent overall structure? Is the theme introduced at the beginning and then elaborated on? Is there a conclusion at the end?&nbsp;</strong></div><div>The text is structured as an article. He starts by making a small introduction and afterwards he starts presenting his own story as an immigrant. In his story he starts by telling what happened to the whole family and then slowly he starts to bring himself more and more in to the story.&nbsp;</div><div>In the end he actually presents the problem of immigration. He worries that the immigration might be too good. <br>He has also structured it by first writing about the first generation immigrants and then second and lastly the third generation immigrants.<strong><br>4. Is the vocabulary concrete (with many concrete nouns, such as table, chair, house) or abstract (with many abstract nouns, such as problem, problem-solving, science, liberty, human rights), colloquial (hverdagsagtig), formal or neutral?
