Hello I’m Richard Anthony G. Pumikpik, but you can call me “Rich”. Growing up as a transwoman in the Philippines during the 2010s, my childhood was shaped by the vibrant Philippine pop culture of the time. I remember eagerly streaming teleseryes like "Darna" and "Mara Clara". My playlist was filled with OPM hits like Charice's "Pyramid" which became the soundtrack of my youth. Festivals were a blend of tradition and modernity, with vibrant street celebrations and Instagram-worthy moments. These experiences, along with following beauty and fashio influencers like Laureen Uy and Michelle dy and watching beauty pageants like Binibining Pilipinas, played a crucial role in helping me embrace who I am with pride and confidence.

One Philippine pop culture phenomenon that holds a special place in my heart is the Filipino beauty pageant, particularly Binibining Pilipinas. Growing up, watching these pageants became a cherished tradition, offering a unique blend of glamour, talent, and cultural pride. The contestants, with their poise and grace, served as role models, showcasing not only beauty but also intelligence and advocacy. The excitement of the coronation night, the stunning gowns, and the heartfelt answers during the Q&A segment all contributed to an atmosphere of inspiration and empowerment. For me, as a transwoman, these pageants were more than just entertainment; they were a celebration of femininity and a source of motivation to embrace my own identity with pride and confidence.
