Mahatma Gandhi was born October 2, 1869 in Porbandar, India. In his later years of schooling. Gandhi left for England to study at the University of England. After his time spent in England studying law and gaining a barristers degree. He then spent almost 2 decades in south Africa at an Indian law firm. During his time in South Africa Gandhi experienced racism and discrimination first hand. For example Gandhi was barred from staying at hotels reserved for 'Europeans only' he was also thrown out of his first class train seat and onto the station. This experienced only hardened Gandi and gave him a resolve to fix the discrimination

Lal, Vinary. "Manas: History And Politics, Mahatma Gandhi". Sscnet.ucla.edu. N.p., 2017.

When Gandhi returned to India he at first refused to be part of any political parties or movements. However when the British government forced a peasantry on an province Gandhi was provoked and announced a satyagraha struggle. This electrified the country and led to thousands of satyagrahis being imprisoned for revolt. The nation was poised to overthrow British rule. However when a violent outburst from an Indian village caused Gandhi to stop the movement due to the fact that he believed his non violence way was not being followed. In 1932 Gandhi resigned as the political leader of his party an continued his work helping the 'untouchables' and the rural uneducated population which made up 85% of the population. With the outbreak of the war Gandhi decided to return to politics as the Indian government would go to war if Britain assured full power to the Indian government. was about to go to war and Gandhi was very opposed to war and did not want his people fighting in a war. When Gandhi refused the deal all the political leaders of his party were imprisoned. Gandhi then continued his work but was shot shortly after.

BBC - Religion - Hinduism: Gandhi - Mohandas 'Mahatma' Gandhi". Bbc.co.uk. N.p., 2017.
Why is Gandhi a radical change agent

It is my belief that Gandhi through his actions against discrimination, freedom and independence during his life Gandhi proved himself as a radical change agent. His work to free India from British rule changed the Indian population's view of independence from Britain. He showed the population that British rule is not be feared and their guns. He gave them a vision of independence, hope and freedom from the rule of an empire. His actions gave the people of India hope. Gandhi's work showed the world that independence can be won through peace and non-violence, that war and violence is not the only answer. He achieved a seemly impossible task through non-violence. He changed the status quo of independence. Which was violence, death and destruction. He challenged this status quo with his ways of non violence and peace. Gandhi continually through his campaigns would fast for multiple weeks at a time to show his resolve and persistence for the problem. He would not fight against imprisonment and he always put India's independence first. Gandhi never wanted power for himself or wealth. After his political party began to lose their way and become more interested in themselves and no longer saw non violence as an underlining creed. Gandhi left the party and went to help the poorest of the poor and those uneducated. Gandhi's peaceful and revolutionary actions cost him is life.

B.R, Nanda.
How his Worldview was shaped

Mahatma Gandhi had a very different world view from the rest of his culture and that of the world. His approach of non violence and peaceful resistance was respected by the world over. His world view was influenced by Jainism, discrimination he had witnessed in South Africa and his schooling. During his youth Gandhi had many Muslim and Christian friends. However Gandhi may have adopted the principal of 'Ahimsa' (doing no harm) from his Jain neighbours. Which directly led to him developing his famous principle of Satyagraha (truth force) later in life.

"BBC - Religion - Hinduism: Gandhi - Mohandas 'Mahatma' Gandhi". Bbc.co.uk.

His worldview was so different from that of the rest of his fellow Indian's, that it changed the way they thought of resistance and revolt to the British. His worldview was so revolutionary that it shaped the Indian revolution into a peaceful take down. Gandhi was so against violence that he halted the revolt on the British government when one of the Indian villages lashed out with violence against the British. This world view was drastically different from the rest of the world at the time. Since it was the time of the World Wars. Most people believed violence was the best way to resolve conflict. Gandhi was a stone of peace, in a river of violence and war.

What is inspiring about Gandhi

The thing about Gandhi that inspires me the most was his peaceful and non violent ways. How he used love and peace to change his country. How he never resorted to violence to achieve his goals. Gandhi faced many challenges in his life, challenges that would test him as a person and a leader and in the face of these challenges Gandhi used peace and love to deal with them. The way Gandhi has challenged my worldview is that he showed me that peace and love can be used to deal with world issues and not violence. His worldview of peace and love has changed my view on war and violence. I use to think that world issues could only be resolved with violence and war, but Gandhi has challenged that view with his peaceful ways.
