I am a member of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington, and grew up on the reservation. Tulalip, located in Washington, is the reservation designated for the Tulalip Tribes. The Tulalip Tribes is a group of Salish Native American people with a deep-rooted connection to the land and waters of the Pacific Northwest and parts of Canada. Our culture is tied to the environment, with ceremonies like the annual salmon ceremony highlighting the importance of nature and our relationship with it. Today, the area is an economic powerhouse, hosting the Seattle Premium Outlets and two large casinos. These offer employment and economic growth for the area, and also help fund cultural preservation efforts such as the Hibulb Cultural Center.

I moved here after I moved in with my dad when I was a teenager. I didn't stay long as it really wasn't a place for an early aged teenager to live and attend school so we moved north to Mill Creek. Capitol Hill is a central neighborhood in Seattle. Historically its been a center for the arts and counterculture movements, and it played a role in the grunge music scene of the 1990s. Capitol Hill has and still is an epicenter for Seattle's LGBTQ+ community, and has a bustling night-life scene.

I moved here after a very short stay on Capitol Hill when I moved in with my dad. We moved here to live in a more teen friendly area/city and for the better schools. I lived here for a couple years. Mill Creek originally began as a planned community in the 1970s, developed around a golf course and country club. Over the decades, the city has grown with the Mill Creek Town Center serving as one of its main features. The Mill Creek Town Center is an outdoor shopping area that features a variety of stores, restaurants, and many services. It is a very pedestrian-friendly area with plenty of sidewalks and crossings. The Town Center often has community events in its public spaces, especially for the holidays. Along Main Street that the town center is located on are many different apartments and townhomes (which is where I lived).

Surprise, AZ

Moved here after leaving Washington to get away from the rain and fog. Trading the 300 days of rain of Washington for the 300 days of sunshine in Arizona. Surprise was chosen as an ideal place because it was affordable and had low crimes rates, we also had family in the area that suggested it as a good place to move. Lived here in various places until 2019, when we moved back to Washington.

I was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. I lived here for the first 6-7 years of my life. New Jersey is next to a big body of water so I went to many beaches. There are certain places that look deserted and broken down. Then there are places with beautiful green trees. All of New Jersey gets very cold though and it snows heavily.

After my New Jersey move my family and I ended up in Charlotte, North Carolina. I stayed here for a good five years. The weather is actually really nice due to the fact that you get all four seasons over here. You can tell when it's summer compared to when its fall. It also snows here but not as frequently and New Jersey.

My mom literally drove us across the country to move here. It was just me and my other sister. This was in 2016 and I've been living there from up to 2022. It is so dry. There are very nice parts in Henderson and North Las Vegas, which is where I lived. My house is maybe 10-15 minutes away from the strip. There is a lot to do but not for a teenager. I did like being here after a while.

I moved out here around 7-8 years ago with my parents and I can say for the most part I love it. I hate the heat but other then that Chandler is a great city with plenty to do. There is Downtown Chandler which is where I work which is always a blast. In the vicinity of me I could go to Queen Creek or Gilbert super fast. It is just such a great area that is continuing to grow rapidly.

Fort Stewart is located about 40 miles South of Savannah, GA. I met my greatest mentor here who I still talk to, to this day and also experienced some of the hardest times of my life. I experienced top notch training to prepare for deployments while still learning to be a man as I was only 18 years old. After 8 short months of being here it was time to move already, however I did end up back at Fort Stewart, where my first bundle of joy Raelynn was born.

A place I have many mixed emotions and feelings about. A place I hated being, yet enjoyed at the same time. The summers were dreadful as it felt like 300 degrees with all our gear on. The sand blowing everywhere making visibility hard. Night time it would cool down, but not my much. My self and other soldiers were there on a mission, and no matter how bad the conditions of the country were we set out to complete our missions. I would not be the man I am today without these deployments. I will continue to pray for our soldiers and hope they all get home safe to their families wherever they may be. Fighting for America's freedom is one of my greatest accomplishments in life.

After I finished up my time in GA and Iraq it was time for my family to head to Fort Carson, Colorado. This is the most beautiful place I have ever been to aside for my beloved beaches. The mountain views are breathtaking. The climate and elevation took some time getting used to and I often faced nose bleeds and light headed-ness during PT. Colorado is great for hiking, skiing, sight seeing, and enjoying the views on the back porch. During our time here we welcomed by son Ryker and even hosted my brothers wedding due to the beautiful views in Breckenridge. Colorado provided memories that will last a life time.

Growing up we lived in a simple neighborhood. All of my friends and my parents friends lived in the same subdivision so it was fairly easy to hangout. We lived right by Lake Olathe which now, has been updated but, back then we would all go to the high cliffs and cliff jump. I remember just driving through and seeing all the trees, the big body of water, and the rock formations. I had so many good and adventurous memories here.

The next place I moved to was still in Olathe. It happens to be just about 10 min away from my previous home. In this subdivision, we were surrounded by tons of pretty nature. We had big giant hills by our house that were perfect for sledding. We also had a gorgeous manmade waterfall that was the perfect place for all pictures. Again, this neighborhood we met lots of nice, friendly people.

Once my parents divorced, I moved to Lenexa with my dad. This honestly was probably one of my favorite places to live because at the time there was still so much undeveloped land. I remember getting off the highway and seeing a small little family farm with animals. Now, Lenexa has become so much more urbanized and there are constantly adding new restaurants, buildings, and even a hospital.

During this same time, my mom and stepdad moved to Gardner. I go there often to visit but it definitely is not my favorite place. I just feel like the restaurants are all basic fast food places with a few local fast joints as well. Overall, there just isn't much there. I feel like it's a small little country city which isn't really my vibe. My mom and stepdad love it though. There are a lot of trains and the New Century Airport which is always pretty loud.

Currently, my family just moved to Shawnee. It is actually on the border between Shawnee and Lenexa. I love it because we are around a bunch of shopping centers and are still rather close to the busy part of Lenexa and Downtown Shawnee. We live near a big wooded area and have a couple ponds around us stocked with fish so very often we go down and skip rocks and feed the fish. I am also very excited because we live very close to my favorite Christmas tree farm!

We moved here after my disease took a turn for the worst, and I needed a very invasive couple of surgeries. The surgeons in Washington were more skilled in dealing with my disease in a teenager, as it typically manifests in people in there 50's and later. While awaiting my surgeries I also started attending a community college in Bothell.

Bothell is a city located in the Seattle metro area, just north of Bellevue, which is just north of Seattle itself. Both has a mix or urban and suburban areas, and a very bustling downtown area. Another key part of Bothell it the educational institutions. Having many schools that are rated highly, many alternatives schools such as Montessori schools and private schools, and 2 colleges, the Cascadia Community College and the University of Washington Bothell campus.

After my surgery was a success I moved back to Surprise in early 2020, while still recovering form the surgery amusingly enough, and have been here since. I switched from the community college in WA to Ottawa University, and have also attended community college classes over the summer at RIO.

Marley Park is a neighborhood in Surprise just south of the stadium and Ottawa Surprise Campus. It has, as its name suggests, many different parks designed for different purposes between kids parks for playing, walking parks, and even a dog park. It also is where an elementary school is located and many families with children live here.

Fort Riley was my final stop on my 10 year career in the Army. Fort Riley was two hours from my original home of record, which allowed me to see family often which was nice. I met some life long friends here and enjoyed my time visiting Aggieville in Manhattan, Milford Lake for sunshine, and fishing, The Dwight D Eisenhower Museum in Abilene, KS and many other family friendly activities in the area. While here I went on a 9 month deployment/ rotation to Poland and loved every minute of sighting seeing their beautiful architecture, sculptures, and pottery. It was an experience I'll never forget.

My mom grew up in a trailer park in El Dorado, Kansas which is located in Butler County. El Dorado held the first oil field that used scientific mapping and became the largest single-field oil producer in the US by 1918. It sits almost in the middle of the Flint Hills region, which is characterized by unique "step-pyramid" like hills and thin soil, set apart from central Kansas' mostly flat terrain. She lived here until she graduated from Flint Hills High School.

After gradutating high school, my mom moved to Marion, Kansas to live with a friend. She worked at Gambino's Pizza while living in the Elgin, a rustic restaurant/apartments. This is where she met my dad who was working at Marion Die and Fixture. Marion is located in Marion County which sits right on the edge of the Flint Hills. You can tell where the hilly areas start and where the typical central Kansas farmland ends. This difference is most noticeable when you see the amount of farms decreasing and ranches increasing, as the terrain isn't as suitable for crops as it is for cattle.

My dad grew up in Lehigh, Kansas, a town with a population of 159. Lehigh is located in Marion County along US Highway 56 between Hillsboro and Canton. According to my dad, Lehigh was a "booming" town that had a car dealership, grocery store, and a school, but all of that went away once the railroad was destroyed. Lehigh is similar to most small Kansas towns as it is surrounded by flat farmland. He went to school in Hillsboro and lived in Lehigh until he graduated college.

After getting married, my mom and dad moved to a farmhouse outside of Hillsboro, Kansas. They lived here until shortly before I was born as it was convenient being between my dad's family in Lehigh, outside of a town with all their necessities in Lehigh, and a couple miles away from Marion which is where they both worked, my dad at a Marion Die and Fixture and my mom at St. Luke's Hospital, which is where I was born. Farmland in central Kansas is very basic, with dirt roads separating square mile blocks of farmland, which themselves are split up by straight tree lines of hedges and cottonwoods.

The first location I lived in was just a couple blocks away from where my dad grew up in Lehigh, Kansas. The house was pretty shabby but they made gradual improvements to it, adding a bedroom to the basement and updating most of the house. Despite living closer to Hillsboro and my mom working in Marion, my dad became a mechanical engineer for Excel Industries in Hesston, designing many of the Hustler mowers. Goessel was located between Lehigh and Hesston, so that is where I went to daycare and where I continued to go to school. I would always joke about how the only "store" in Lehigh was a vending machine outside the co-op, and how I would ride my bike across all 4 blocks of town to get a Coke.

My great-grandparents on my dad's side lived in Fes for years. From my conversations with them when I was younger, they said the place they came from was lovely and simple, they were a known family over there and decided to make an "Aliya" to Israel. Finally, Goessel, Kansas is the second place that I have lived in and is where I currently live. After going back and forth to school from Lehigh to Goessel for 13 years, we moved to Goessel when I was in 7th grade. Goessel is where my dad's ancestors moved from Russia as part of a group of Mennonite immigrants. I would say it is my second home in the US, that is where I spend my vacations when I am not in Arizona. I have family who live there and I go pretty often. (at least 2 months of the year) I like going there but during winter it gets really cold, extremely different than Arizona. Going down the shore is my favorite thing to do and I am thinking about moving over there in the future.
