Dining on the legendary TItanic was something many could only dream of. Now, two very fortunate people are the proud owners of two menus from the legendary vessel.

Of course, that honor did not come cheap as the menus were auctioned for a record-breaking sum of $160, 000. Not a bad price to pay for owning a piece of history.

One was a first-class lunch menu from the first meal on the ship, which included roast beef and lobster. It sold for $102,000.

The other menu, which featured delicacies like foie-gras stuffed eggs and turtle soup, was from a VIP 12-couse luncheon held at the Grand Central Hotel in Belfast before the ship's departure. It sold for $58,000.

Rice Porridge from Mulan
EASY!

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 2

Ingredients:
½ cup sushi rice
3-4 cups water
2 eggs
1 strip bacon

Directions:
1. Mix rice and water in a sauce pan.
2. Turn the heat on high until the water boils. Stir occasionally to avoid rice sticking to bottom.
3. Turn the heat to medium-low, cover the pan with the lid and let it simmer for 15 minutes (or until rice becomes translucent and the water is almost completely soaked up).
4. While the rice is cooking, get another non-stick pan and pan-fry two eggs and 1 strip of bacon.
5. Serve the rice porridge in a big bowl and plate it according to the Disney movie.

Taste: Pretty tasteless. The salty bacon adds a little bit of flavor, but once the bacon is gone, there’s nothing to write home about.

Thoughts: Traditionally rice porridge is eaten with salty side dishes like pickled radishes, so simply eating porridge the way Mulan did isn’t really practical. Also… Dear Mulan, how on earth did you find a piece of bacon in ancient China?

Created by the pharmacist John Pemberton in 1886 and originally produced as a patented remedy, Coca-Cola changed its original formula and came to be consumed as refreshing drink. By the end of the 1930s, the product had already made some success in the United States, but it was with the beginning of World War II that the brand won the world.

Because of World War II, sugar was rationed in the United States, but authorities ruled that Coca-Cola factories would not be cut because it was among the vital products of the war. It was sent to the soldiers of the United States who fought in Europe, under the idea of making them feel closer to home. The Army considered the delivery of Coca-Cola as important as the mechanical servicing of airplanes and tanks. Among the ranks of soldiers, Coca-Cola personnel had a special status as technical observers. They were known as Coca-Cola colonels.

The company had the exceptional authorization to use whatever sugar it needed, and so they were shipped close to the battle fronts, mobile factories, which allowed any soldier to buy a bottle of coca cola for 5 cents.

Although the cost of production on the battle fronts was higher, the company paid for the costs and kept the same price as was practiced in the United States throughout the war. This made the Company a symbol of patriotism, contributing greatly to the brand's popularity.

With the end of World War II, the factories continued in place, and the civilian population took over as a customer, replacing the military. From then on, Coca-Cola was launched successively in almost every country in the world. Even in Brazil, at the US Base in Natal, there was a mobile factory!

Another thing that caught my attention was the Titanic’s menu. Very fascinating indeed! Again, it was something new for me. I can’t believe until now that people paid $58,000 for it!!!! Moreover, the panda’s commercial is so cute! I loved it! In general, I think your padlet is very well organized and the topics that you decided to work with are curious and attractive.
